Multi-Level Phenom In Historic Headley School Sells For $640K

New, 1 comment

One of 12 luxury condos in Lincoln Park's retired Headley School building has just sold for $640K. It doesn't quite posses the architectural flair of some of its neighbors, but there's still the fact of its overblown setting— high ceilings, cartoonishly large windows, a sculptural staircase, and an interesting mash-up of finishes. Tallying two bedrooms and three baths, the multi-tiered dwelling logs about 2,500 square feet, including a sun room and private roof deck. Other niceties range from the two-sided fireplace, private exercise room, media room, and what looks like a kitchenette perched on the third floor. Because lord knows it's a long slog up and down those stairs. The Headley, perhaps the oldest public school building (1875) still standing in Chicago, was converted to condos in the mid-80s. While just three stories in height, it retained an elevator— another nice perk. And yet, it took several price reductions and two lengthy MLS stints to reach a sale.
