Site prep is getting underway on a rather distasteful chunk of Loyola-adjacent housing on Albion near Sheridan. Curbed reader and Chicago Now contributor Patrick Barry was kind enough to donate a photo of the progress. Loyola is developing its parking lot into a cluster of five low-rise rental buildings with a total of 29 units. Good to see another surface lot fill in, but, as we reported over the winter, the Solomon Cordwell Buenz design is pretty lackluster. This parcel has been severely underused since Loyola razed the Albion Shore Hotel some 30 years ago, and another larger mixed-use plan never got its legs. [Photo: Patrick Barry, previously]
