What a difference four months makes! That was when we last dropped by to snap some pics of the three hotels under construction on a small site at Clark and Grand. At the time, the cores were just beginning to rise. Now, the 180-foot complex is topped out and glass installation is proceeding briskly on the eye-catching, 272-unit Aloft Hotel portion of the project. We're pleasantly surprised by the facade, which is a lot of funkier than the rendering indicates. The project, from Developer Friedman Properties, will also include a 208-unit Hyatt Place and a Fairfield Inn & Suites, with 177 units. Construction is expected to wrap in mid-2013.
