The Tribune's Bob Goldsborough is reporting that former Bears safety Danieal Manning, now with the Houston Texans, has just finalized the sale of his Libertyville house— at a 42% loss. A key defensive player in five seasons with the Bears, Manning bought the 4-bed, 3,800-square-foot home in 2007 for $535K. Even though Libertyville is a fairly affluent north 'burb, the down market still took its toll. Market realities caused Manning to list in January for $440K and chop the ask three times before selling for only $308,500. Eek! That's a lousy turn of events. But for a guy with a freshly minted four-year, $20M deal with Houston, it's likely to smart a little less. [Trib]
