One of the least expensive blog-worthy properties we've encountered in a while, this dignified 3-bed 1886 South Side rowhome is being offered up as a bank-approved short sale for just $47,500. Perhaps a little context would be useful: with 1,660 square feet, that's $29/sf— less than one-fourth the neighborhood average. Furthermore, this very house sold for $200K in early 2006. Now that we've established it as a hell of a deal, it's time for a physical. The rooms unfold as you make your entrance, marked by good condition hardwood floors, original pocket doors, and Tiffany lighting. The kitchen has all the relevant updates; fireplaces grace the living room and master bedroom; and, there's a full finished basement. The odd mirror wall running up the stairwell provides some comedy. Also, per the listing, the exterior could use some work. It looks fine, but you can't know just by looking.
