Peep The New Renderings of a Scaled-Back New City

New, 28 comments

The last time we heard about New City, planned for a vacant lot at Halsted and Clybourn, Structured Development had teamed up with General Growth Properties, giving the long-stalled project a push forward. At the time, only the old site plans were available, leaving us with little indication of how the development would turn out. Now, renderings have surfaced at SkyscraperPage.com, and, thanks to spyguy, we can finally put a face with a name. The new scaled-back plans include just one tower instead of three, which will be around 15 stories and house 190 apartments. In an unfortunate design change, the tower no longer anchors the intersection of Halsted and Clybourn. The retail portion has been given a contemporary makeover, sparing us the ye olde shoppe look of the earlier version. As for tenants, an 80,000-square foot Mariano's Fresh Market is still in the works. There will also be a movie theater, run by ArcLight cinemas. Stay tuned for more!
