We caught wind this morning of this minor celebrity scoop from Crain's Chicago Real Estate Daily: Ex-Blackhawks Defenseman Jassen Cullimore has listed his never-before-lived-in Hinsdale new-build for $2.1M. Cullimore tested the market last year too, on which Bob Goldsborough dutifully reported for The Tribune, asking $2.5M. He paid $400K for the jumbo 300-foot-deep lot in 2009, and could have easily spent twice that on construction. We can't say for sure, but it's likely the asking price would clear a handsome profit. The home measures 5,200-square-feet with six bedrooms, six full and three half baths, 10' ceilings, furniture-grade birch floors, and an absurd spectacle of a master bath with a soaking tub, chandelier, skylights, and a locker room-sized shower stall. Oh, and there's a 2,500-square-foot finished basement. The unremarkable stone and wood facade is a wee bit busy for our tastes. The Canadian-born Cullimore, who served two stints with the Hawks totaling three years, is in the autumn of his pro career and now skates with a German squad. He never had a chance to live in his brand new custom house. Step up and do him proud.
