Thanks to a recent article in Skyline, we have an idea of where things presently stand at Webster Square. The controversial Lincoln Park project from Sandz Development Inc. was approved by City Council back in May 2011. Since then, various tweaks have been made to the planned development, which include trading office space for condos and adding eight townhomes. This change of plans was material enough to permit grocer Fresh Market, the contentious retail tenant, to be released from its agreement. As a result, Sandz has been left holding the bag, and is currently seeking another retailer to anchor the development. “We’re widening the net a little bit, in order to attract some similarly attractive retail tenants,” he told Skyline. “We really want to make sure that whatever we put in there is an amenity for the neighborhood.” As for the other elements of the project, Sandz indicated that a 75-unit apartment building on Geneva and Webster will be completed by next summer.
