Sold Stuff

Over on his Deal Estate column, Dennis Rodkin is bringing warranted attention to an Italianate mansion in Highland Park. Built in 1873 by Jonas Steers and the Highland Park Building Co., the structure is one of a handful of model homes built to market the new suburb to big money types. Other early homes sit nearby on Belle Avenue. The 11-room mansion has big window bays affixed to one end, five bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths, a glass-walled conservatory, and bluff-top lake views (check out the awesome interiors here). The newly-renovated property was first listed in 2009 for well above $2M. It sold last week as a short sale for just $1.2M. [Deal Estate, photo: VHT]
