Here's a novel conceit: an architectural super-furniture project that purports to fuse the particular extroversions of Joseph Beuys and Hugh Hefner. Huh? The video helps make sense of it. The live-in comic strip-like architectural installation is the brainchild of architect Jimenez Lai, assistant professor at UIC. Planned for a London storefront, Lai will live in the cartoonish assembly over the summer. Take it as an example of the kind of endeavor for effect that more and more young architects are investing themselves in as the industry deals harsh blows. The Kickstarter-promoted project successfully reached its funding goal just hours ago so there's no implied obligation. [Kickstarter, image: Jimenez Lai/Kickstarter]
