The Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University's high-minded department expansion, is set to break ground in May at the Southeastern edge of NU's Evanston campus. We wrote a little about the design, by architects Goettsch Partners, back in February. But now we have more facts at hand. The 152,000 sf five-story building will have a 400-seat recital hall, a 150-seat opera rehearsal room/black box theater, a choral rehearsal room, and a library. It will adjoin with the existing Regenstein Hall of Music. Also on the table: an attempt at obtaining LEED Silver certification. Click over to the official web page for more. [NU, previously]
