Sprawling Duplex at The Pierre Gets $400K Price Reduction

Condo units get mashed together all the time. But how often are they recast with double height ceilings and the floors and lighting of a roller rink? This contemporary unit in Lincoln Park's classic Pierre Condominiums is certainly a strange one. We like how they kept some delineation between the original units by way of those passages of darker wood and concentrated lighting. Weird, but cool. The fusion of three side-by-side units produced a five-bed, five-and-a-half-bath monster at the park's edge with lake views. Measuring 3,826-square-feet, there's also a den, office, nifty eat-in kitchen, and a lofted section. We also ought to highlight the building's amenities: while there's no private outdoor space, residents enjoy a rooftop pool, basketball court, squash court, exercise room, and 24hr doorman service. First listing for $1.8M in November, the price has been knocked down to $1.4M. Assessments, at $2,892, are a bit scary but still in line.
