We've written a lot about the modernist agglomeration known as Urban Sandbox, but we've skewed toward the single family homes over the condos because, well, they're generally more extravagant and showy. But the small four-story condo building embedded in the development happens to have a scrumptious penthouse unit for sale. Unit 402 has three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, and has "unimaginable" width at 70'. The most striking aspect of the unit is probably the 50' long wrap-around deck, a product of architecture firm Miller Hull's "box overlaid with a steel and glass frame". Miller Hull goes on to talk about how these frames create singular space that's bridged and enlivened by "outdoor rooms". However you like to think of it, the adventurous design certainly helps butter up a buyer. The interior has 10' ceilings, an efficiently designed kitchen, lots of transparency, and one of those crazy swiveling fireplaces. There's also a roof deck with a hot tub and sauna and a 2-car garage. Asking $1.2M, assessments add another $379/month. It's not the penthouse at the Contemporaine, but it might be worth one-third the price.
