Development Watch: Museum of Health & Medicine

New, 1 comment

Anyone recall the plan for a National Museum of Health & Medicine satellite outpost at 175 W Washington Street in the Loop? It made a big splash at the end of 2010 before going under the radar. Online development chatter indicates the plan may be re-mounting, with a 'lunch talk' scheduled for March 21st at the Chicago Architectural Foundation. The design, from Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, brings an explosive color palate to a drab stretch of Washington. The former Rock Records building stands to be the glad recipient of the transformative undertaking. According to the 2010 design brochure, every surface of the building will be able to broadcast video and audio. Also, heel-strike green technology will harness visitors' kinetic energy to help power the building. [previously]
