This just in: Amtrak has federal approval for 110-mph service on sections of two Michigan-Chicago routes. The Wolverine, running b/w Pontiac and Chicago via Detroit, and The Blue Water, running b/w Port Huron and Chicago via East Lansing, are the two runs that stand to benefit. The Tribune broke the news, and it appears the affected stretch is some portion of the Kalamazoo, Mich. to Porter, Ind. leg. That means about 100 miles are in play. Hopefully, it'll be more than a few miles of it. More details are expected next week. [Trib]
