Right on the Avondale/Logan Square border looms this reinvented frame house, lifted into the realm of respectability by a just-finished gut rehab. A mere five months ago, it ranked as an unqualified disaster (see here), and the price reflected it. But now, in its most pristine and greatly expanded state (thanks to the finished basement), it's still cheap enough to join our Under $300K Club. Previously, the livable square footage was 1,325. It's now 2,366. Along with making the place livable, the four-bed/two-and-a-half-bath plays host to new 'designer' finishes like the stainless steal kitchen appliances, stone baths, recessed lighting, and a smattering of granite and maple. And we can't discount the new 2-car garage. A few blocks away is the cluster of shops and restaurants flanking the Logan 'L'.
