Dennis Rodkin has his finger on a trend— the 'greening' of real estate listings. Not surprisingly, marketing is reflecting demand for green features and certifications, substantive or not. With broader acceptance of green features and standards, such as low-VOC paints or walkscores, it's harder to greenwash a listing even though the temptation may be greater than ever. In responding to demand, realtors may help create it. Says real estate broker Sarah Coulter to Rodkin: "Having these green fields on the MLS and showing that more and more people are choosing to use them will help create demand for more green new homes and [renovations]. That propels green building, which has an effect on our homes, our pocketbooks, our health, and our world." [Deal Estate]
