"The Cabrini row houses are closing, but what will happen to that property? CHA would be wise to partner with First Pres (owners of the nearby urban farm) and sell that land to a developer. Chicago Ave is ripe for commercial development (movie theater, high end bowling, everyday restaurant for Groupon employees) and would be put to better use as commercial property rather than residential given its placement on a busy street. CHA and First Pres could take the profits and but them to charitable use...CHA could buy more units with that money than it could rehab at that site. Buying twice as many units in a less costly neighborhood would get more people off of the waiting list." —Anon [What Our Policies Get Us]
