The proliferation of cultural hubs is what the mayor seems to be after in the drafting a new Cultural Plan, the first in 26 years. The Sun-Times' Fran Spielman reports that City Hall wants to air it out with the public. A total of 30 "community conversations" will take place beginning Feb. 15 and running through the Spring. The last Cultural Plan defined a North Loop Theater district, lured filmmakers with tax incentives, fast-tracked the National Museum of Mexican Art, and delivered the disappointing 90s renovation of Navy Pier (in the midst of being overturned). This time around, Rahm is agitating for an Uptown Music district and other hubs touted in his transition plan. Looks like the former ballet dancer is finally getting back to his roots. [Sun-Times]
