A 1920s Wannabe-Gaudi Spanish Bungalow in Edison Park

New, 4 comments

For those not averse to Chicago's sleepy peripheral neighborhoods, here's an inexpensive and mildly kooky in for ya. Spanish-styled bungalows aren't especially prevalent, and this one in Edison Park packs a lot of laughs. The earth-tone paint job with white detailing really accentuates the curvaceous Gaudi-like passageways. There's some kind of strange circular dome cut into the living room ceiling that just peeks into the picture, and a number of fake pilasters. "Some TLC needed" usually means run, but we don't see any evidence of serious decline. You can certainly say, though, it retains a strong sense of time and place. Near Olympia Park and the Edison Park Metra, the 2-bed also boasts a stone patio and fenced-in yard on an over-sized lot. New-to-market and priced at $299,900, we welcome it to Curbed's illustrious Under $300K Club.
