The Curbed Cup Is Upon Us! Pick 2012's Best Neighborhood!

New, 83 comments

Another 12 months of changes—big and small—have been registered with Chicago's neighborhoods since we last took nominations for the Curbed Cup. Which begs the question: Which 'hoods will contend for the 2012 Curbed Cup's Best Neighborhood Title? Last year, Uptown was the winner, besting Lakeview in the final round. The story was the same in 2010, with South Loop the runner-up. This year, let's all hope and plead for a newcomer. We put it to you, faithful readers, to drop a neighborhood nomination in the comments below, or via the tipline. Please take the time to explain your choice, and do your best to ground it in the year's observed changes, i.e. real estate developments, retail, restaurants, property values, cleanliness, safety, public space, and so on. Maybe you sense a new energy or optimism, or a strengthening local identity... These are perfectly valid reasons to nominate too. The fun kicks off next week, when we'll present you with the first round of head-to-head match-ups. The tournament bracket will feature eight (8) neighborhoods, and we need your help in figuring which 'hoods merit consideration. Let's give 2012 the sendoff it deserves!
