On mansion-lined Schiller Street one block west of Lake Shore Drive, a delectable free-standing Queen Anne has just sold for $1.95M. Public records show the 5/5.5 brick home, built in 1908, has 3,770 square feet of finished space but we're not sure if that's up to date. The sellers invested a pretty penny into renovations and listed the property for $2.395M in March. The difference between list and close isn't enormous, but it's understandable if you expected a bit more from the sale. The admittedly low sale price for such an outstanding Gold Coast abode may have something to do with being on the wrong side of Schiller, wedged between two tall buildings (two doors from Sullivan & Wright's fabulous Charnley Persky House). And all that green carpeting sabotages a few otherwise lovely rooms. Nevertheless, the home manages some lake views, a garden, and above average elegance.
