Ruin Porn: The Ramova

Bridgeport's Ramova Theater may offer the most accessible ticket to local ruin porn. Shuttered for more than 20 years, pigeons have inherited the 1,500-seat Spanish Revival auditorium. Which is a crying shame when you see the brilliance of the space, even in its massacred state. Cue a new photo gallery of interior shots by theater chasers After the Final Curtain. Ramova is Lithuanian for "peaceful place", and indeed, the theater's special serenity beckoned to the area's movie goers from 1929 to 1986. The city-owned building recently underwent facade stabilization, and neighborhood group Save the Ramova, partnered with IIT, hopes to take it further by cooking up a business plan for its functional reuse. A lot could go wrong in the meantime, but Curbed hopes for the best. Enjoy the pics! [After the Final Curtain, Photo: Mindaugas Danys/Creative Commons, previously]
