A William Otis Masterpiece Sells for Close to Ask in Kenwood

New, 10 comments

Whether a show of stability for the Kenwood market or just a testament to sensible pricing, the gorgeous C.E. Gill Residence by local architect William Otis has sold for $1.58M. That's just $119K below its June asking price. The home resides on a third of an acre in the much preferred southern section of Kenwood, even though that puts it calamitously close to the Obama home. The recipient of a seamless restoration, the 8-bed, 5,300-square-footer loudly broadcasts its late 19th century vintage with a wood-clad oval dining room, decorative staircase, built-in seating, stained glass, and sequence of ornate fireplaces (one in almost every room, it would seem). A broad porch and balcony overlook the long, sequestered yard.
