Roosevelt Collection Welcomes Crop of Committed Retailers

New, 26 comments

We've blogged about Roosevelt Collection in some fashion since this site's inception more than two years ago. The 342-unit condo-turned-rental development has been hunting for retail tenants longer than that. Centrum Properties failed at the task of leasing 330,000 square feet of inward-turned commercial space along a bridged stretch of Roosevelt Road. Current owner/developer McCaffery Interests also struggled mightily. The anchoring Showplace Icon multiplex hasn't had anything to anchor, until now. That's where the dealmakers convened last night to announce nine more committed retailers: H&M, ULTA Beauty, Francesca's Collection, BlackFinn American Grille, Z Gallerie, Fleet Feet Sports, White House Black Market, Republic of Couture, and Chica Loca (a restaurant).

The press release is sure to remind that McCaffery has is sitting on approvals for an additional 1,158 residential units and a "magnificent park and meeting place". If you 'round the back of Showplace, you can't miss the muddy northerly plot awaiting development. Back in July, Daniel McCaffery was in talks with The British School as a possible tenant for a portion of the undeveloped space. We're not sure where that stands at the moment, but vibrant retail activity may lend new impetus to getting those extra residences off the ground. And lets not downplay the significance of The Collection's emotive lightshow, now in full flight.
