Placeholders

Chicago Lights Urban Farm has accomplished much in its two years of operation, providing job training and volunteer opportunities to hundreds of area residents (not to mention organic produce). But, as Skyline Newspaper reports, the Chicago Housing Authority is taking steps toward bringing this land into its Cabrini redevelopment portfolio. To remind: the parcel's owner, Fourth Presbyterian Church, has been seeking close to $3M for the half-acre farm. It looks like they'll get around $3.2M if this deal is finalized— money the church hopes to pour into its building addition at 126 E Chestnut. With the CHA's sluggish reputation, the farm could remain as placeholder for years to come. Furthermore, a contract may ensure just that. [Skyline, previously]
