DePaul Campus Densifies With New Theatre School Building

New, 8 comments

Camera in tow, we swung by DePaul's Lincoln Park campus to get closer look at how the new Theatre School Building is moving along. On this, our third visit, we were pleased to see that cladding of the $69M facility on Racine and Sheffield is nearly complete, with installation of windows not far behind. Its design, courtesy of starchitect Cesar Pelli, features floor-to-ceiling windows to promote a sense of transparency, along with rooftop courtyards and a luminous 100-seat theater box. The new facility also aims to encourage greater collaboration among students and faculty members. Officially scheduled to open its doors in July 2013, the 165,000-square foot structure will also house lounge areas, an interior courtyard, performance spaces, script library, new-media workshops, and an additional 250-seat theater.
