Greenhouse Condo w/ Bits of Ancient Flower Shop Asks $950K

New, 1 comment

Naming this three-story Lakeview complex the Buckingham Greenhouse condos is a little misleading. One unit does indeed occupy the former Amlings flower store, but the lone glass greenhouse was demolished to make way for parking when rental-to-condo conversion of the "Palace" and "Greenhouse" was undertaken in 1997. The much smaller Greenhouse building has three full-floor units, originally priced at $450K to $550K. The most lavish and interesting unit returned to market yesterday for $950K. It's pretty badass, beginning with the coffered stone ceilings and carrying through to the decadent moldings and pillars. And what's with that incredible glass and wood covered entryway? It looks like an overgrown medicine cabinet plunked down in the living room. The sprawling home has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms w/ heated granite and marble floors, an office/family room, super nice kitchen, and jacuzzi. And happily, the rustic enclosed porch advances some semblance of a greenhouse. Set between Halsted and Broadway, the property is fairly lake-proximate but also in a lower-profile setting. Sweet dreams!
