"The city should not have doled out one thin dime for Harper Court, so to suggest that it do the same for City Hyde Park is ridiculous. The biggest problem with TIF subsidies is that the city is GIVING MONEY AWAY. In private enterprise, if such funds came from an individual that person would be considered either an investor (with rights to profits) or a financier making a loan (with rights to repayment).
