Dense Mixed-Use Development On Tap For Chicago Bowl Site

New, 19 comments

We've done our share of speculating over what could be in store for the old Chicago Bowl site in the East Village. Now, thanks to advance renderings posted by the East Village Association (EVA), we can feast our eyes on the latest plans. 1850 FCR LLC is working with Fifield Realty is to develop the vacant site, owned by Ken Kosinski, with a mix of 63 rental units and 14,000 square feet of ground-level retail, stretching from 1822-50 W. Chicago Ave. Designed by Pappageorge/Haymes, the 4-story, contemporary structure includes metal canopies and glass-enclosed balconies. Parking for the development will be above ground and accessible from an alley behind Commercial Park, sparing pedestrians additional curb cuts. Rumor once had a Trader Joe's tenancy at the site, though still there's no indication of whether the specialty grocer will set up shop there. We'll keep our fingers crossed!
