For $3.85M: A North Shore-like Estate in Graceland West

New, 5 comments

In this swanky corner of Lakeview, apparently, folks are disinclined to sell. Seldom has Curbed's celestial eye paused over Graceland West— it's only a few square blocks in size and there just aren't many sales (garage sales are another story). But that changes today. Surely one of the priciest listings in the neighborhood and all of Lakeview, this gigantic Victorian with Alessandra Branca-styled interiors sits on what amounts to a mini-estate gobbling up roughly six city lots totaling nearly a half-acre. The 1888 home was featured in a 2006 issue of House Beautiful magazine, according to the listing agent. The place is daunting yet delicate, with its six bedrooms, six bathrooms w/ limestone tubs, vaulted kitchen, sprawling living room, sauna, wet bar, front and back wrap-around porches, and a litany of "extra" rooms including media room and gym. And, the listing advertises one particularly peculiar amenity: an in-ground trampoline. Sounds more like a booby trap than a good time. New-to-market, the initial ask is $3.85M, $800K below its 2007 sale price.
