Navy Pier Redesign Competition: Final Drawings Emerge

New, 10 comments

A day in advance of their official unveiling, the Tribune's Blair Kamin brings the public a sneak peek at the concept drawings of the Navy Pier Redesign Competition's five final teams. We present here one standout component of each overarching concept (you can visit the Tribune's photogallery for a more thorough tour). The ideas are generally pretty bold, and at times totally unhinged (as with the offshore 'glacier'). But, as Kamin notes, most may easily outstrip the $85M budget. So unless that number gains some flexibility, some of the best, most whimsical ideas may wind up curtailed in the execution. So start ogling, the winning team will be declared sometime next month.
