Price Continues to Fall on Rebori-Designed Triplex

New, 3 comments

Tally another year against the last unsold Andrew Rebori-designed unit at the Fisher Studio Houses. Exactly one year ago, we wrote about this renovated triplex, part of the 13-unit Art Moderne beauty named for Frank J. Fisher, a Marshall Field's executive. Built in 1937 for Fisher as an income-generating rental property, the units were converted to condos a decade ago. The building's only triplex, originally home Fisher, was bought in 2000 by photographer Michael Marienthal who embarked on a major renovation. In a 2009 Deal Estate column, Dennis Rodkin testifies to the degraded state of the unit at that time, having been privy to before-and-after-photos. Apparently, Marienthal did a helluva lot for the 2,200 sf condo. We could tell you once again how awesome the unit is, or we could just tell you that its asking price, subject to fluctuations, is currently at $1.239M, its lowest since pre-renovation days and $436K below its '08 peak.
