Heartwarming Twitter Tales

A local homeless woman has Twitter to thank, in part, for helping her find housing. AnnMarie Walsh, without a home for more than five years, took advantage of free wifi zones to build a large twitter following, where she tells her story, networks with other homeless and shelter providers, and generally advocates for the homeless population. Her efforts earned her a place to live, thanks to a social worker who came to her aid. Now something of a "social media celebrity", Walsh has been asked to speak at conferences on her experience. But she still has to contend with PTSD and rheumatoid problems when it comes to holding down a job. Her handle: @padschicago. [Daily Herald]
