The APA's 2012 National Planning Awards have touched down, and while Chicago gets snubbed (what, no nod for the 31st Street Harbor or U.S Steel Site Plan?), there's much to marvel at here. The award for comprehensive plan goes to NYC's 2020 Waterfront plan, admittedly much larger and gutsier than anything taking place in Chi at present. We learn that Pasadena, CA is serious about preservation; Oregon wants you to build in an environmentally-responsible manner and will provide a handbook on the subject; and, Florida excels in disaster planning. Onward to the rest of the field! [APA]
