For $14,000/mo: A High Perch at The Elysian

Gather your furs and your fur rugs, there's a rental opening at The (soon to be ex-) Elysian! For a measly $14K each month, share elevators and amenities with the city's elite (which does include spa, valet, concierge, and room service). Up for sale until last week, this 3,464 sf, 3/3.5 condo inhabits the 30th floor, with a couple of balconies to remind. If refinement's your thing, then we reckon you've found it. Otherwise, the unit's style and layout seem pretty uninspired for the price. The things the listing pushes, like floor-to-ceiling windows and a chef's kitchen are commonplace in condos half the price. If there's one flash of brilliance it's that free standing bathtub at the window. Prior to hitting the rental market the unit spent much of 2011 trying—without success—to sell for $2.7M. One thing that may bode well for owners as a whole and their building's future— the hotel to which they're conjoined just sold to Sam Zell, who plans to make it a Waldorf.
