Johnson Publishing is moving on from 820 S Michigan. Should the rest of us follow? A post on the Chicago Architecture Blog attempts to weigh the merits of preserving the Ebony-Jet building, often derided as one of Michigan Ave's most brutally ugly structures. The author's observation that windows are all that separate it from a parking garage paints the best picture of the building's worth. Still, the post grants it a fair trial before ruling against its right to exist. With Columbia College as owner/developer, is there a greater chance of conjuring something worthwhile once the dust clears? That's the hope, anyway. [Chicago Architecture Blog]
