A couple of weeks ago, Chicagoist noted that the Damen Avenue Bridge, which recently got a fresh coat of gray paint, "no longer looks like hot dogs." Back in 1999, Tribune architecture critic Blair Kamin championed the red arches, writing the bright color "prevents them from getting lost in the sky."
