[200 N Michigan Ave]
Curbed just found out from Crain's that a partnership between John Buck and Becker Ventures has formed to ponder development plans for 200 N Michigan Ave., just north of Millenium Park. The parcel is not vacant. A six-story 120,000 sq. ft. office building sits there with ground floor tenants like Starbucks and Chase. But a quick look into the building's occupancy rate shows 13 spaces for rent covering nearly 50,000 sq. ft., or more than half of the total non-ground floor area. Becker Ventures controls this and the neighboring Hard Rock Hotel sites, and the location definitely carries high-rise potential. John Buck is well known for the development of several Wacker Drive office buildings such as 111 S Wacker and the UBS Building. The best information we have to date is a verified claim from Crain's that the venture seeks to either redevelop or develop the site for mixed-use retail, residential and a boutique hotel, with added parking. We'll be on the lookout for renderings.
