Lathrop Homes Redevelopment To Move Forward, But How?

New, 23 comments

The Chicago Housing Authority officially gave the green light to a group of developers that are planning to redevelop the Lathrop Homes yesterday. But how exactly the homes will be redeveloped, and how many market-rate units will be included, is still an open question. In recent years, housing advocates and preservationists have argued that the 75-year-old housing development should be rehabbed and preserved, and that no market-rate housing should be added. The CHA hasn't revealed what ratio of units will remain low-income housing, but all signs point to a Plan for Transformation-style mixed-income plan.
