Lots Of Progress Made At 1225 Old Town

New, 8 comments

Since last checking in on the construction status of the major Wells St. development dubbed 1225 Old Town in July, several stories have risen. We swung by the other day to snap some new photos now that the impact of building's scale is beginning to be felt at street level. To refresh, this broad brick and glass building will stand 16 stories tall and supply 250 rental units plus 38,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The rendering exhibits a some type of grocery among the retail and a re-purposed chunk of the old Grossinger Cadillac facade for that taste of the good ol' days. There's also an unrelated, very small building underway (seen in the photo, above right) at the southern edge of the site that is sharply whimsical and may offer nice visual relief from the long span of building set to consume the block. According to the development site by Hines Interests, leasing is about to get underway.
