Happy PARK(ing) Day 2011, Chicago!

Have you heard? Today is PARK(ing) Day, the day when people everywhere (well, not everywhere, but in many places) transform metered parking spaces into little pop-up parks. Curbed took a quick swing through the North Side this morning to check out the action. The cool, cloudy weather might have hurt the turnout a little bit, but it didn't stop several participants from setting up a handful of fun, pint-size parks. In one whirlwind tour, we visited Urban Habitat Chicago's spot in front of Revolution Brewing, Architecture for Humanity's spot just across the street, Heritage Bikes at 2959 N. Lincoln, and Moss Design's mega-parking spot in front of Southport Grocery (3552 N. Southport). Click through the slideshow to see them all. The day isn't over yet! You can still check out a few PARK(ing) Day installations before sundown.
