The Near West Side has seen a great deal of new construction and loft conversions in recent years, but thanks to its landmark designation, the stretch of Jackson Boulevard between Ashland and Laflin retains much of its late 19th century charm. There are currently a couple of homes for sale in the 1500 block of Jackson Boulevard, including a million-dollar greystone (at left), and a four-bedroom rowhouse (at right). The rowhouse, located at 1535 W. Jackson, has been on and off the market for more than two years, and its price has dropped by $275K in that span. According to an old Crib Chatter post, the place has five fireplaces and some original stained glass. That home is now priced at $700,000. Just across the street, at 1532 W. Jackson, a large three-bedroom greystone (which also has five fireplaces and original stained glass) with a coach house hit the market in June, priced at an even $1 million.
