Visions of Da Future, Circa 2008

Ever wish you could transport yourself back in time to 2008 in order to catch a glimpse of the last wave of new-construction exuberance? Now you can! For the past three years, YouTube user CasPioneer has been uploading 'Visions of Da Future' videos showing planned high-rises in cities across the world. The Chicago video is notable both for the buildings it features and CasPioneer's unique video-editing style, which uses a flurry of Valentine's Day hearts to cut from Solstice on the Park to Trump Tower and a bunch of cartoon cats' eyes to fade from Museum Park to Lakeshore East. What does it all mean?
