Running Away From Assessment Fees at The Aquitania in Uptown

New, 4 comments

Browsing the local listings, it looks like there are some pretty incredible deals to be had at The Aquitania, a handsome old co-op building in Uptown that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We count at least eight one-bedroom condos, all listed below $100,000, the least expensive of which is priced at just $49,900. What gives? Well, for one thing the monthly assessments are astronomical. Assessments for a 1,000-square-foot 1BD, 1BA, which include taxes, all basic utilities and cable, appear to range from about $900 to more than $1,050 per month. Some of these units do look quite lovely, and the location, just a few blocks north of Montrose Harbor, is excellent, but those assessments are still looking pretty steep.
