A couple of years ago, the city of Chicago inexplicably installed hundreds of new parking meters on the vacant land west of Ashland, just south of the Illinois Medical District. Under its contract with the city, Chicago Parking Meters, LLC was recently required to replace those meters with more than 70 electronic payboxes. The clever folks over at the Expired Meter ran a test on a few of those payboxes to see how much action they've seen. Unsurprisingly, not a single car paid to park in the desolate area over a five-week test period. [Expired Meter]
