Massive Spanish Colonial Mansion in Evanston To Be Auctioned

New, 2 comments

Here's your chance to get a grandiose lakefront mega-mansion at a (presumably) severely discounted rate! Last week, Chicago Real Estate Daily reported that a vacant, new-construction, 11,000-square-foot home that was once priced as high as $9 million is headed for a sheriff's auction next month. According to an old listing, the place has a 70-foot sandy beach, an outdoor pool with a cabana, and an attached 2BD, 2BA 'guest casita.' There aren't too many homes like this one in Evanston, and unsurprisingly, the developer drew the ire of neighbors by building to the lot lines, ripping out the sidewalks, and changing "the look, the feel and to some extent the culture of the neighborhood," as one neighbor, quoted in the Crain's article, put it.
