A new ordinance allowing free parking on Logan, Kedzie and Humboldt boulevards was unanimously approved by the city council last month, and Logan Square residents are not happy about it. Ald. Rey Colon claims the measure will merely enable church-goers to park on the boulevards without getting tickets, but locals contend that the shift was made to appease neighborhood restaurants. And of course, they're angry that the community wasn't involved in the decision-making process. Whatever his motivation was, it'll soon be much easier to find free parking in Logan Square; free parking will be available for up to 16 hours per day on the weekends. [Chicago Tribune]
