It looks like that lonely new cycle track on Kinzie Street will soon have some company: At a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning, CDOT Commissioner Gabe Klein announced that another protected bike lane is coming to Jackson Boulevard, between Damen and Halsted. The news doesn't come as a complete shock; last week, we linked to a Grid interview with Klein in which he said, "we're looking hard at Jackson. A couple mile stretch of Jackson into downtown is being resurfaced – this would be an ideal street for a protected bikeway." According to a city press release, work on the Jackson bike lane is set to begin in early August.
