Construction Begins on Old Town Apartment Building

Over the weekend, we braved the heat (it was, after all, just in the upper 80s, which now sounds quite brisk) and headed over to Old Town to check on progress of Hines Interests' unnamed apartment building at 1233 N. Wells St. We hadn't been by there since early April, and whaddayaknow, vertical construction has actually begun! A first floor is in place on the northern edge of the construction site, and there are a bunch of big concrete pillars sticking out of the ground at the southern end. When the dust clears, the new building will have 250 rental apartments and about 38,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
